Everyday support for a more independent life.
HPC is support that helps adults with developmental disabilities navigate everyday life, develop daily living skills, and pursue greater independence at home and in their communities.

Haven Hues Wellness is a new agency preparing to provide HPC in central Ohio. We are accepting inquiries now so we can get to know the people and families we hope to serve, and we will share our start dates and availability as part of every conversation.
What HPC is
Homemaker/Personal Care is one of the services available through Ohio's developmental disabilities system. It is delivered by trained Direct Support Professionals who help a person with the tasks of daily life, in ways that build on what the person can already do and move toward what they want to be able to do.
Good HPC is not about doing things for someone. It is about doing things with them, at their pace, in a way that respects their preferences and their right to make their own choices.
Support may include
- Building daily living skills
- Personal care assistance
- Meal preparation and homemaking
- Community participation
- Self-advocacy
- Independence and decision-making
- Individualized supports aligned with the person's authorized service plan
The specific supports a person receives are set by their individual service plan.
Everyday life, at the person's pace.

Who it may help
HPC may be a good fit for adults with developmental disabilities who:
- Want to build or keep skills for living at home or in the community
- Need hands-on help with personal care or household routines
- Want support getting out into the community and pursuing their interests
- Are working toward more independence and more say in their own day
How services are coordinated
HPC works inside the person's service plan, which is developed with the person, the people they choose, and their Service and Support Administrator (SSA) at the county board of developmental disabilities. We coordinate with the SSA and the person's team so our support matches what was planned and authorized, and so the person's goals stay at the center.
Our service counties
We are focused on three central Ohio counties so we can serve each one well.

HPC questions families and SSAs ask
What is Homemaker/Personal Care (HPC) in Ohio?
Homemaker/Personal Care is a service in Ohio's developmental disabilities system that helps adults with developmental disabilities with the tasks of daily life, such as personal care, meal preparation, household routines, and getting out into the community, in ways that build skills and independence. It is delivered by trained Direct Support Professionals in the person's home and community.
Who is HPC for?
HPC is a support for people with developmental disabilities who receive services through Ohio's Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) system. Whether HPC is right for someone, and how much of it, is decided through the person's own planning process with their county board and Service and Support Administrator.
Does submitting an inquiry mean services will start?
No. An inquiry starts a conversation with our team. It is not enrollment, an eligibility decision, or a service authorization. We will talk with you about your needs, our availability in your county, and the steps involved.
Do I need a Medicaid waiver to receive HPC?
In most cases, yes. Under Ohio Administrative Code 5123-9-30, HPC is offered through Ohio's Individual Options (IO) and Level One waivers, which are administered with the county boards of developmental disabilities. Eligibility and authorization are determined by the county board, not by us. If you are not sure where you stand, your Service and Support Administrator (SSA) or county board is the best place to start, and we are glad to talk it through with you.
How do I find an HPC provider in Licking, Fairfield, or Delaware County?
Start with your Service and Support Administrator (SSA) at your county board of developmental disabilities. People on a waiver choose their own providers, so you can ask your SSA to include Haven Hues Wellness when you review options, or contact us directly and we will coordinate with your SSA.
Which counties do you serve?
We are focused on Licking, Fairfield, and Delaware counties in Ohio, including Newark, Heath, Granville, Pataskala, Lancaster, Pickerington, Canal Winchester, Delaware, Powell, Sunbury, and Lewis Center. If you live elsewhere, reach out anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Can I choose my provider?
People receiving DODD waiver services have the right to choose their providers. Your SSA can explain the options available to you.
What information should I share in the first inquiry?
Just your contact details, the county, and a short note about what you are looking for. Please do not include medical records, diagnoses, or Medicaid numbers in the online form. We will gather what is needed later through a secure process.
Your Next Step Starts With a Conversation.
Whether you're exploring services, making a referral, or interested in joining our team, we'd love to hear from you.
